As with every innovative tech company operating in a highly competitive market that’s striving to satisfy user and business needs, looking back over the last 12 months at year end always gives an edifying view on success.
WOLF, the tech company behind the WOLF Qanawat app – the community-led gaming and live audio entertainment app for Arabic speakers in the MENA region – has experienced huge growth this year thanks to its change in focus, exciting new offerings and heightened attention to user satisfaction, ending 2025 on a huge high.
Giving gaming an elevated platform
Perhaps the biggest pivot has come from listening to our valued users – over four million to date, with a core of more than 100,000 – and understanding where their interests lie, resulting in a targeted focus on gaming. The summer 2025 launch of our in-app games proposition and first game, Carrom, highlighted just how desirable gaming is for user entertainment, interaction and community building. This led to a serious focus on creating a stronger gaming offering for users keen for more opportunities to build their confidence, challenge themselves and form friendships.
By the end of 2025, the app will have three new and unique versions of popular games added to the Gaming output, all created, tested and perfected through data-driven strategy, user insight and detailed feedback. And, in early 2026, more enticing games will be added to excite users, boasting new features, including social media links, spectator involvement opportunities and monetised gamification mechanics.
Adding sporting favourites to the Sports Hub
After the successful launch of the Football Hub in early 2024, user demand and growing interest in other sports in the app demonstrated the desire for a much broader sporting hub, taking the community on a bigger, better and more exciting journey, whilst strategically ensuring the community stays engaged and entertained.
From this feedback, the Sports Hub launched at the start of 2025, incorporating the football focus, while expanding its sporting offerings and adding other activities, including Taekwondo, kickboxing and MMA, health discussions and nutritional suggestions. Currently there are more than 70,000 regular sports hub users and the approach of evolving and improving the Football Hub in the app has given impressive results for current and future users, and our vibrant sports community.
Enhancing the talent engine
WOLFStars has always been the thriving, human-powered programme that gives our WOLF Qanawat audio platform its unique pulse, designed to support the very best creators, empower real talent, and shape the future of entertainment within the app. Evolving this key programme in a way that responds to our user trends and demands, meant a revamp in July 2025, after observing their behaviour and understanding what really resonates on the platform.
The result was the introduction of two new core categories – Podcasts and Talk Shows – and while the focus may have shifted, the magic of creative diversity still remains, now integrated into these two new formats. The strategic shift is a commitment to creative excellence, meaningful representation, and content that connects communities by finding the best talent that offers the best engagement for our Arabic-speaking audience.
Empowering females with the Women’s Channel
Early in 2025, we introduced the Women’s Channel in-app, after listening to our female users and understanding their needs and aspirations. This vibrant space, created by women for women, has female users from countries such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq and Egypt who enjoy and benefit from topics including lifestyle, relationships, career growth, and trending female-focused themes.
It also offers engaging competitions and initiatives and encourages female users to express themselves and benefit in ways that are not always possible in their everyday lives. The Women’s Channel provides an exciting space for females to connect, discuss, ask advice, swap ideas and suggestions, and form friendships that are a supportive addition to their existing networks. Importantly, it offers a safe space to be heard, uplifted and enjoy the encouragement of others who are in tune with them.
Upping our user satisfaction game
Our valued WOLF Qanawat users are the reason we continue innovating, improving and evolving the app. By providing valuable, honest feedback we can develop and offer the most engaging, happy experience when using the app. To this end, we have created and nurtured an even more secure and supportive app environment in 2025.
The caring and dedicated WOLF team – made up of a professional in-house team, and hundreds of volunteer users and moderators from the community – ensures all users are looked after, encouraging only positive experiences. This is achieved using AI and machine learning tools and our dedicated 24/7 team that checks behaviour, ensuring no unpleasant language or images are used.
On the rare occasions issues are flagged, the app’s professional Community Support and moderation teams respond immediately, with resolution actioned within 24 hours. Boundaries are clear; if user behaviour doesn’t follow our codes of conduct, a structured escalation path is used, including warnings, temporary blocks or instant bans, with repeat or severe offenders permanently removed from the app.
Tackling the tech bugs
To ensure user enjoyment is smooth and unaffected by technical issues, any highlighted problems are treated with transparency and honest communication. Support Teams swiftly discuss issues with the user, with regular dialogue throughout the process, gathering information to work towards a solution. Internal bug-fixing projects are created and assigned to relevant tech teams and once the problem has been understood, worked on and resolved – typically within 24-48 hours – users are notified. Ideally, problems would never arise, but when they do, we ensure speedy and satisfactory resolutions.
Farewell 2025, hello 2026
For WOLF, 2025 has been an incredible year of growth and achievement, not just for our business, but for our much-loved app users. This year’s additions and focuses offer exciting new ways for users to stay engaged and happy, which in turn, has led to a year of best-ever financial results. We’re working hard to further innovate the app in 2026, hoping existing and new users will join us on the next phase of our journey.
